In Memory

Karen MacKENZIE

Notice courtesy Gary D'Haese:

It is with great sadness that I confirmed the passing of our class mate with her father and brother. Karen was a kind and quite gentle young lady who as I recalled never ask for anything. I last saw her in the early eighties when Jeff Lowe and I decided to ride our motorcycles from Vancouver to Point Roberts, WA USA. We made an unannounced visit and I gave Karen a ride to her Mom's and back to "The Cabin" where her Dad lived. Even thought Karen always seem shy I know that in her heart she was outgoing. It was always a pleasure to see her and speak with her. I will always remember her smile and wish that I knew she was struggling each day and could have reached out to her when she needed a friend.

Gary,

Thank you for posting the tragic information about Karen’s passing in 1995, at such a young age. I did not know Karen, but through your words, and her words  on her photo, I see a lovely young lady that had that hopes and dreams for a bright future. It’s sad that in spite of the fact she smiled when you saw her she obviously struggled and was unable to reach out for help.

We missed you at the reunion Gary. I hope you’re doing well. If you want to chat further, please feel free to message me. Take good care.

Warm regards,

Heidi
